Technology

Pro Handmade Tubeless Ready with SuperPoly casing
Handmade tires combine a variety of outstanding features to offer maximum comfort and minimum rolling resistance. Carefully selected materials are used in the different tire levels depending on the performance requirements. Soft, supple carcasses quickly adapt to the shape of the ground when rolling and cornering. This increases ground contact and grip and improves shock absorption on poor road surfaces. Soft, natural rubber treads are combined with lightweight, flexible puncture protection.

Polyester is the cheapest of all handmade carcasses. It is a synthetic material that is very strong and waterproof and offers much more flexibility and durability than comparable nylon materials. Challenge uses high quality polyester or SuperPoly (higher TPI polyester) to produce cost effective pro-level tires.

Handmade natural rubber – SMARTplus hardness grade
Challenge’s handcrafted natural rubber treads are compounded to provide the perfect level of durability without compromising performance, comfort and control. Challenge tires wear out 10-20% faster than the competition, but deliver significantly improved performance and a noticeably better ride feel throughout their life. Depending on the requirements, the tires are equipped with different soft rubber compounds.

The SMARTplus compound is a slightly harder natural rubber compound specially designed for high mileage. The formulation effectively reduces wear, making the tire even more resistant and durable.

Puncture Protection System (PPS)
The PPS (Puncture Protection System) puncture protection system consists of one or more layers of fabric between the tread and tire carcass. PPS significantly increases the tire’s resistance to punctures and thus offers maximum reliability.

Corazza Armor
Corazza Armor Silver: The first step with gravel tires was to improve the sidewall protection. The carcass is extended around the bead up to the tread. This ensures longer durability and additional protection for the most heavily stressed parts of the tire. In addition, the flexibility of the center of the tire is perfectly complemented by the reinforced sidewalls – offering improved puncture protection and a supple, soft ride.

Protective strip
The Gravine is equipped with a protective strip that increases the longevity of the tire by reducing the effects of chafing or rubbing on the rim. In addition, it serves as a precise control option for an even fit of the tire on the rim.
